Diaspora-led. Non-partisan. Audited.
The Kenya Diaspora Governance Initiative (KDGI) is a registered, non-profit civic platform that connects more than 4 million Kenyans abroad with credible leadership at home. We channel diaspora goodwill, expertise and resources into transparent, accountable governance — campaign by campaign, county by county.
Our Mission
To empower credible Kenyan leaders and civic institutions through transparent diaspora funding, rigorous vetting, and open accountability — so that every shilling raised translates into measurable governance outcomes for the Republic of Kenya.
Our Vision
A Kenya where leadership is earned through integrity and merit, and where the global Kenyan family is an organised, trusted partner in shaping the nation's constitutional, economic and democratic future.
Our story
KDGI was founded in 2022 by a coalition of Kenyan professionals, civil-society veterans and international policy advisors who shared one frustration: every election cycle, the diaspora sent home billions of dollars in remittances but had almost no organised, compliant way to back the leaders they believed in.
Three years later, the platform has grown into the largest verified diaspora governance network in the country's history — with active chapters in USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Europe, the Gulf and across Africa, an independent audit framework, and a member-driven governance model that puts every major decision to a vote.
We are non-partisan by charter. We do not endorse parties. We back integrity, record and policy — and we publish everything we do.

Our values
🔍 Transparency
Open books, open data, open process. If we can publish it, we do — including this charter.
⚖️ Non-partisanship
We back integrity, not parties. Aspirants are judged on record, manifesto and member endorsements.
🌍 Diaspora-led
Governed by the Kenyans who fund it, wherever in the world they live — one member, one vote.
🛡️ Donor protection
Contributions held against milestones, with independent audit checks before any disbursement is released.
📊 Evidence-based
Decisions backed by data, polls and consultations — not by personality or patronage.
🤝 Member voice
Members vote on aspirants, proposals, chapter leadership and the priorities we fund.
By the numbers
Governance & oversight
KDGI is governed by a multi-stakeholder Board of Trustees comprising diaspora chapter representatives, civil-society advisors, an independent auditor and a retired Kenyan judge. Day-to-day operations are run by the Secretariat under the National Coordinator and overseen by the Co-Founder & Chair.
Every disbursement above USD 5,000 requires sign-off from the Independent Audit Committee. Every aspirant we list is vetted by a four-stage process documented on our Governance page. Our full charter, constitution and code of conduct are published openly.
